As many of you already know Sarah and myself have training in Oncology Massage. Using massage as a tool to care for clients with cancer can be extremely healing for individuals living with and going through cancer treatment. So often fear and separation permeates the lives of not only those diagnosed with cancer, but also their families and friends. The impact of this hands-on work is always more profound than my mind can ever grasp. Using Oncology Massage to not only work with individuals on a physical level, but also to hold a gentle awareness of the need for clients to feel held, and supported with a caring touch and listening presence can be an integral part of the pain management and healing process. If you know anyone who has been diagnosed with Cancer the work we offer at the Pittsburgh Center for Complementary Health and Healing can be a useable resource for improving their quality of life and well-being. Recent research suggests that massage therapy can reduce the negative effects of cancer treatment dramatically by:
Reducing Anxiety
Reducing Depression
Enhancing Body Image
Relieving Nausea/Vomiting
Relieving Pain and Suffering
Easing Muscle Tension
Promoting Sleep and Relaxation
Supporting Immunity
Reducing Lymphedema
"When our eyes see our hands doing the work of our hearts, the circle of creation is completed inside us, the doors of our souls fly open, and love steps forth to heal everything in sight." --Michael Bridge *As always please consult with your physician before receiving Oncology Massage.
