Along my quest to banish all of the superfluous and perhaps toxic chemicals from my house, I revived an old-fashioned practice: using hydrogen peroxide as part of my dental routine. Most of us do not want to pay ten dollars for a small bottle of all natural mouthwash. Solution? Cheap, easy to find and time tested hydrogen peroxide. Now besides using it as a before and after floss rinse, the most important use it may have as part of your brushing regimen is......disinfecting your toothbrush right before you brush!! Think about it: the bacteria that you have so purposefully removed from your teeth have now been hanging out on your brush as it lies in wait for its next use. Some soak their brushes in a little cup of peroxide, but what they may now know is that peroxide breaks down in light- hence the brown bottles it comes in. It is most useful right out of the bottle- so a little swish in a cup for a few moments before brushing helps to avoid putting those bacteria (likely multiplied..) back onto your teeth! Happy brushing!
