If you’re like me, there’s nothing better than cold fresh watermelon on a hot summer day. This summer has been especially great for delicious tasting watermelon so I’ve purchased one virtually every week and used as much watermelon as I can. Below you’ll find my quick and easy DIY watermelon and mint body scrub. Body scrubs are a great idea all year round but we often think about them more when wearing a little less clothing in the summer time. Your skin is your largest organ; body scrubs help to slough off dead skin cells that can prohibit your body from properly absorbing anything we apply to it and brings the bright, healthy new skin cells to the surface.

 You will need:

1/2 cup sugar or salt (salt will be a bit more abrasive)

1 oz oil (olive, coconut or avocado)

2 Tbs watermelon juice (Cut your watermelon in a container with sides to save the juice)

2 leaves fresh or dried mint very finely chopped

Combine all ingredients into a small container that has a lid and is safe for you to take into your shower. Use your scrub after washing by applying a small amount to wet skin and massaging in circular motions moving upward from your feet to your collar bone. The skin on your face is far too sensitive for this scrub and you should be cautious if using on your neck as well. Do not use scrub on your legs immediately after shaving. Instead use it prior to shaving or the next day. Then rinse all the remaining scrub from your skin and enjoy!
